Baking up a storm for MacMillan Cancer Research
Post date: 02 November 2016
Our wonderful team at Marden Edwards went to exceptional lengths recently to, not only show off their culinary skills, but also to enlighten those not fully aware of the great work done by Macmillan Cancer Research.
Last week the ‘Marden Edwards Bakers’ whipped up a selection of delectable home-baked cakes for the 'Coffee Morning' Cake Sale, these included mouth-watering, Lemon Drizzle, Victoria Sponge, Fruit Cake, Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake & Scones, to name but a few.
As you can imagine, the event was a great success with everyone enjoying a tasty morsel (or two), and all happy to drop a donation into the Macmillan donations box.
We're thrilled to announce every last crumb was devoured, with our baker's raising £200 directly rom cake sales and Marden Edwards staff contributions, and Marden Edwards matched these donations thereby bringing the total to £400, all duly donated to Macmillan!
Coffee Morning
‘Coffee Morning’ is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event, with bakers throughout the UK (and around the world) hosting their own coffee morning, donating the proceeds to the MacMillan Cancer Research. Last year these events raised an incredible £25 million, and since it was first introduced in 1990, a massive £138 million - clearly showing that good things do come in small packages!
We’d like to say a BIG thank you to all our talented bakers for an outstanding effort. You'll find them all pictured above, from left to right they are: Jeanne Humphrys, Jo Phillips, Wendy Gain, Debbie Williams, Conchita Burn, Jane Bennett, Sami Anderson, Sharon James, Ishbel Mcmahon, Kay Howell & Rachael Hall, and notable bakers (not pictured): Amanda Rodwell & Sita Ale.
